Madrid!!!

Sunday, 16th March

Had booked it weeks before, and today I was off to Madrid, Capital of Spain, for a week! :D

Got bus at around 11:30 from Oviedo. Always get so damn bored on bus journeys, and Spain is a nightmare seeing as the fastest, cheapest and--ultimately--BEST form of transport is...the bus!!! Takes AGES to get anywhere!! Madrid ain't even that far, and yet it takes like 5 and a half hours!! :O At least in France you can just HOP on to a train and go anywhere...Bleurgh!! Anyway, read my Rough Guide to Spain (my BIBLES wherever I travel to!!! :p), ate, made a stop at some gas station called Villalpando at around 2:00 for about 25 minutes, and then it was more reading and eating and 'i-pod-ing' till off in Madrid (Estación Sur!!!) at 5:05. Got my bag, got the Metro to Puerta del Sol (which was being DUG UP, so not the nicest of places!), and then it was off to my hostel (Hostal Puerta del Sol), right on the Puerta itself! :) Number 20! Had everything I needed, but my room was away from most of the others, downstairs, and it just reminded me of a dungeon!! BUT I had a bed, towels, somewhere to hang my clothes, and (thankfully!) a bed, so! All's good! :) Showered, did a little work (yes, even though I was on holiday, Glasgow still needs attention!! Damn Travel Writing essay...!!! :p) in front of the TV in the (homely!) wee common area, and then bed just after midnight, looking forward to EXPLORING!!! :D
